This tiny and lovely restaurant in Jardim Botânico is specialized in the most typical of Peruvian dishes -ceviche: fresh row fish marinated in lime juice, spiced with chilli pepper and often served with coriander and onion. La Carioca offers all types of ceviche, from traditional recipes to Mediterranean and Oriental gastronomic inventions. Try also the octopus and don’t forget to taste the grape-brandy called pisco, the national drink in Peru (as cachaça is in Brazil). If you want to be more sober, choose the house beer La Carioca.
